How Long Do Dental Implants Take in Turkey?

Short Answer
Two Trips, Three to Five Months Apart
A standard dental implant in Turkey takes two trips to Antalya, three to five months apart. The first visit is three to four nights: examination and imaging, then placement of the implant. The second is four to five nights, when the permanent crown is made and fitted. In between, you are at home while the bone grows onto the implant.
The surgery itself is short. A single implant usually takes 30 to 60 minutes. What takes time is healing, and no clinic, in Turkey or anywhere else, can make bone heal faster. That is why a plan that promises a permanent implant crown inside a single week should make you ask what exactly is being fitted.
This guide sets out what happens on each day, why the gap between the visits exists, and the situations that make the timeline longer or shorter.
Timeline
A Single Implant, Day by Day
This is the usual pattern for one implant with enough bone. Your own plan gives your dates in writing.
Visit 1 · Day 1
Examination and imaging
Clinical examination, a panoramic X-ray and, where the case needs it, a CBCT 3D scan. The plan is confirmed or adjusted on what the scan shows. No treatment that day.
Visit 1 · Day 2
Implant placement
Under local anaesthetic. Most single implants take 30–60 minutes. You may be sore afterwards; ordinary painkillers usually manage it.
Visit 1 · Days 3–4
Check and fly home
A review of the surgical site, written aftercare and the transfer back to the airport. Stay at least one full night after surgery before flying, preferably two.
At home · 3–5 months
The bone heals onto the implant
This is osseointegration. It is painless and invisible, and it is the reason for the second trip. We stay in touch on WhatsApp.
Visit 2 · Day 1
Digital scan
The healed implant and the teeth around it are scanned, and the crown shade is matched to your own teeth.
Visit 2 · Days 3–5
Permanent crown
Try-in, adjustment and final fit. You go home with the finished tooth, your implant passport and the guarantee in writing.
Total time in Antalya: about 8–9 nights, split over two trips. Total time from first visit to finished tooth: usually three to five months.
Why the Wait
Why Implants Cannot Be Finished in One Week
An implant is a titanium screw that replaces the root of a tooth. On the day it is placed, it is held only mechanically, by the bone it was screwed into. Over the following weeks, bone cells grow onto its surface and lock it in place. Dentists call this osseointegration, and on its own it usually takes two to three months. Our plans leave three to five months between visits so the implant is fully settled before it has to carry a crown and the force of chewing.
Loading an implant with a permanent crown before that has happened puts the whole implant at risk. So when a clinic advertises “implants in five days”, one of three things is usually true:
- The crown fitted is a temporary, and a second trip is still needed for the permanent one. That is legitimate, as long as you are told.
- It is a full-arch case with temporary teeth, such as All-on-4, where several implants are splinted together. The final teeth still come months later.
- The healing period is being skipped. That is the one to walk away from.
Our guide on how to tell a safe clinic from a risky one lists “realistic timelines” as one of the five things to check.
Longer or Shorter
What Changes the Timeline
Bone graft or sinus lift
Adds time
- Why
- If a tooth has been missing for years, the bone shrinks. A graft or a sinus lift rebuilds it.
- Effect
- It can add three to six months before the implant goes in, sometimes an extra trip. It is decided on a CBCT scan, not by eye.
Extraction first
Depends on the site
- Why
- A tooth that is still there has to come out, and the socket may need to heal.
- Effect
- Sometimes the implant goes in the same day; sometimes the site needs to heal first. Your dentist decides on the scan.
All-on-4 or All-on-6
Two visits over 4–6 months
- Why
- A full arch is rebuilt on four or six implants, with temporary teeth during treatment.
- Effect
- About five nights on the first visit and six to seven on the second.
Several single implants
Usually the same two trips
- Why
- Implants placed on the same day heal side by side.
- Effect
- More surgery time on day two, but normally no extra trip.
Things that slow healing
- Smoking. It is the habit that does most harm to implant healing. Stop before surgery if you can, and certainly in the first weeks after.
- Uncontrolled diabetes and untreated gum disease. Both raise the risk of failure. Tell us about them at the planning stage.
- Skipping the aftercare. Soft food, careful cleaning and the follow-up messages matter most in the first two weeks.
Planning
How to Plan the Two Trips
- Send a panoramic X-ray before anything else. It tells us whether you are likely to need grafting, which is the biggest single factor in the timeline. You get a written plan with dates before you book flights.
- Book the first trip with a spare night. Surgery is usually on day two, and you should stay at least one full night afterwards.
- Pencil in the second trip from the plan, not from a calendar. We confirm the timing from how the implant has healed.
- Keep your records. You leave the first visit with your implant details, so a dentist at home can help if anything comes up between trips. Our aftercare guide explains what to watch for.
Airport transfers, imaging, medication and follow-up are included in both visits. See what our packages include, and ask us about hotels near the clinic.
FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
- How long do dental implants take in Turkey?
Usually two trips three to five months apart. The first visit is three to four nights for examination, imaging and placement; the second is four to five nights for the permanent crown. The gap lets the bone heal onto the implant before it carries a crown.
- Can I get dental implants in Turkey in one trip?
Not a finished, permanent implant crown done properly. The implant needs months to fuse with the bone. A one-trip offer usually means a temporary crown, or temporary teeth on a full-arch case, with the permanent work fitted on a second visit.
- How many days do I need in Turkey for implant surgery?
Plan three to four nights for the first visit: day one for examination and imaging, day two for placement, and at least one full night after surgery before you fly. Two nights after surgery is better.
- Does a bone graft make implant treatment longer?
Often, yes. Where the bone has to be rebuilt first, a graft or sinus lift can add three to six months before the implant is placed. Whether you need one is decided on a CBCT scan, so send an X-ray early.
- How long does All-on-4 take in Turkey?
Two visits over four to six months: about five nights for the implants and temporary teeth, then six to seven nights for the final bridge.
- Is the healing period painful?
No. Expect soreness and some swelling for two to four days after placement. The months of healing that follow are normally painless; pain that increases after the first few days is not normal and should be checked.
