Overview
Small Changes, Little or No Drilling
Composite bonding is the most conservative way to change how a front tooth looks. A tooth-coloured resin is applied to the surface, shaped by hand and polished — usually without removing healthy enamel, and often without an injection. Chipped edges, small gaps and uneven lengths can be corrected in a single appointment.
It is also the treatment most often oversold. Bonding is excellent for modest changes on healthy teeth; it is not a cheaper way to get the result of a full set of veneers. This guide explains where that line is, what bonding costs in Antalya and what to expect afterwards.
What It Fixes
What Bonding Can — and Cannot — Do
Bonding is usually a good choice for
- Chipped or worn edges on front teeth.
- Small gaps, including a gap between the two front teeth.
- Uneven lengths or small differences in shape between neighbouring teeth.
- Isolated marks or white spots that whitening does not remove.
- Edge bonding — building up only the biting edges to even out a smile.
Another treatment is usually better when
- You want a large change in colour across the whole smile. Whitening first, or veneers, give a more even result — see teeth whitening.
- Teeth are heavily filled, cracked or root-treated and need full coverage. A crown protects them better — see crowns and bridges.
- You grind or clench heavily. Composite edges chip under that load unless you wear a night guard.
- The problem is crowding or the bite rather than the shape of the teeth. That is a job for orthodontics.
- Your gums are inflamed. Bonding needs a dry, healthy field, so gum treatment comes first.
Comparison
Bonding, Veneers or Whitening?
The three are often confused, and they do quite different jobs. Many good plans combine them.

Your Trip
Usually Two to Three Days
Bonding is built directly on the tooth in the chair, so there is no laboratory wait. One or two appointments are normally enough; more teeth, or whitening beforehand, can add time, and your plan states the dates.
Day 1
Examination and plan
Clinical exam, X-ray, photographs and shade selection. We agree which teeth to bond and what the result should look like.
Day 2
Bonding
The resin is applied in layers, shaped by hand, cured and polished. Several teeth can usually be done in one sitting.
Day 3
Check and final polish
Bite check, any fine adjustments and a final polish, plus aftercare advice before your airport transfer.
If you also want whitening
Composite does not whiten, so the order matters. Whiten first, then match the bonding to the new shade. For about two weeks after whitening the shade is still settling and the enamel bonds less reliably, so either whiten at home before you travel or bond first and whiten later. We will plan the order with you.

Aftercare
Making Bonding Last
- Do not use bonded edges as tools. Biting nails, pens or ice is the most common cause of chips.
- Expect some staining. Coffee, tea, red wine and smoking discolour composite faster than enamel. Rinsing with water afterwards helps.
- Have it polished. A polish at your regular hygiene visit restores the shine and removes surface stain.
- Wear a night guard if you grind. It protects both the bonding and your natural teeth.
- Small chips are repairable. Composite can be added to, so a minor chip is usually a short repair rather than a replacement — and any dentist at home can do it.
Honest Answers
What Bonding Does Not Do
Worth knowing before you book
- It does not change colour later. The shade you choose is the shade you keep. If you want lighter teeth overall, whitening comes first.
- It is not as durable as ceramic. Composite is softer than porcelain or E-max. Polishing, repairs and eventually replacement are part of normal maintenance.
- Overbuilt bonding looks bulky. Teeth made too thick or too long are the main reason bonding looks artificial. Ask to see the planned shape before it is placed.
- It cannot fix crowding or the bite. Bonding changes the surface of a tooth, not its position.
- Fewer teeth is often better. Bonding two or four teeth that need it usually looks more natural than bonding every visible tooth.
FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
-
How much is composite bonding in Turkey?
Composite bonding starts at £120 per tooth at our clinic in Antalya. Four front teeth therefore start around £480 and six around £720. Your written plan lists the price of every tooth before you travel.
-
How long does composite bonding last?
Commonly four to eight years before it needs re-polishing, repair or replacement. Grinding, biting hard objects and heavy staining shorten that; polishing at your hygiene visits extends it. Ceramic veneers last longer, but they need enamel preparation.
-
Does composite bonding damage your teeth?
Usually very little. In most cases the enamel is only lightly roughened so the resin can bond, and no healthy tooth is drilled away, which is why bonding can normally be removed or replaced later. Your dentist will tell you if any shaping is needed on your teeth.
-
Can composite bonding be whitened?
No. Whitening gel lightens natural enamel, not composite. If you want whiter teeth, whiten first and match the bonding to the new shade. Bonding is best done about two weeks after whitening, once the shade has settled.
-
Composite bonding or veneers — which is better?
Neither is better overall. Bonding suits small, reversible changes and costs less per tooth; E-max or porcelain veneers suit larger changes in shape and colour, resist staining and last longer, but need enamel preparation. Many smiles are best served by bonding a few teeth rather than veneering many.
-
Does composite bonding hurt?
Usually not. Adding resin to the surface of a tooth is often done without an injection. If a tooth needs shaping or a small repair underneath, local anaesthetic is used.
-
How many days do I need in Antalya?
Most cases need two to three days: an examination and plan, the bonding appointment, and a check and final polish before you fly. Whitening beforehand can add time.
