Overview
When a Removable Option Makes Sense
A full denture replaces all the teeth in one jaw with a removable set that rests on the gums. It needs no surgery, it can be made in about a week, and it is the most affordable way to restore a full smile. For some people it is the right long-term answer; for others it is a sensible first step before implants.
This guide explains the types we make, who they suit, how long they take, what they cost in Antalya, and — just as important — what dentures cannot do.
Types
The Options, From Simplest to Fixed
Full acrylic denture
Removable, per arch
- What it is
- Teeth set in a gum-coloured acrylic base
- Good for
- Lightness, cost, and easy adjustment or relining
- Trade-off
- A thicker base, and less strong than a reinforced denture
- Price
- from £550 per arch
Denture with a metal framework
Removable, per arch
- What it is
- The same denture reinforced with a metal framework
- Good for
- Strength, and a thinner base that many people find more comfortable
- Trade-off
- Slightly more to adjust if the fit changes
- Price
- from £600 per arch
Fixed teeth on implants
All-on-4 or All-on-6
- What it is
- A full-arch bridge screwed onto four or six implants
- Good for
- Fixed teeth that do not move, and less bone loss over time
- Trade-off
- Surgery, two visits and a higher cost
- Price
- from £2,400 for both jaws — see All-on-4
If you still have some healthy teeth, a partial denture, a bridge or implants may suit you better than a full denture. Send us an X-ray and we will tell you which options fit your mouth and give you an individual quote.
Suitability
Who Dentures Suit
A full denture is often a good choice when
- All the teeth in a jaw are missing, or the remaining ones cannot be saved.
- Surgery is not advisable for medical reasons, or you would simply rather avoid it.
- You want a complete smile on a limited budget, or as an interim while you plan implants.
Upper and lower are not the same
An upper denture covers the palate and is usually held well by suction. A lower denture has a much smaller ridge to sit on, and the tongue and cheeks move it, so lower dentures are more often loose. That is where implants make the biggest difference — either a few implants for the denture to clip onto, or a fixed All-on-4 bridge.

Upper and lower dentures together therefore start around £1,100. For comparison, fixed teeth on implants (All-on-4) start at £2,400 for both jaws with temporary teeth, with the zirconia bridge priced separately. Surgical extractions, where needed, appear as their own lines on your plan.
Your Trip
About a Week, With Fittings
A denture is made in stages so that the fit, the bite and the appearance can be checked before it is finished.
Day 1
Examination and impressions
Clinical exam and X-ray, then impressions of your gums and agreement on the type of denture.
Day 2–3
Bite record
The relationship between your jaws is recorded, and the shade and shape of the teeth chosen.
Day 4
Try-in
The teeth are set in wax so you can see and feel the result while changes are still easy.
Day 5–7
Fitting and adjustments
The finished denture is fitted, then checked again after a day or two of wear to ease any sore spots.
If teeth need to be removed first
An immediate denture can be fitted on the day the teeth come out, so you are never without teeth. As the gums heal over the following months they shrink, and the denture loosens. It will then need a reline or a new denture — something to plan for, not a surprise.

Living With Dentures
The First Weeks and Beyond
- Give it time. Speaking and eating feel different at first. Start with soft food cut into small pieces and read aloud to get used to the new shape.
- Sore spots are normal early on. They are fixed by small adjustments, so tell us before you fly home rather than putting up with them.
- Clean the denture and your gums daily. Brush the denture with a soft brush and rinse it after meals; most people leave it out overnight to rest the gums.
- Expect relines. The jaw changes shape over the years, so a denture usually needs relining every few years and replacing every five to ten.
- Keep having check-ups. Even without teeth, your gums and mouth should be examined regularly.
Honest Answers
What Dentures Do Not Do
Worth knowing before you decide
- They do not stop bone loss. Without roots or implants, the jawbone slowly shrinks, which is why dentures loosen over time.
- Lower dentures are harder. Many people manage an upper denture well but struggle with a loose lower one. Implants help most there.
- An upper denture covers the palate. Some people notice a change in how food tastes or feels at first.
- Chewing force is lower than with natural teeth or implants. Very hard or sticky foods remain difficult.
- Adhesive is a help, not a fix. If you need a lot of it, the fit should be checked.
FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
-
How much do dentures cost in Turkey?
A full denture starts at £550 per arch at our clinic in Antalya, or £600 with a metal framework. Upper and lower together therefore start around £1,100. Any extractions are listed separately on your written plan.
-
How long does it take to make dentures?
A conventional full denture is usually made over about a week: impressions, a bite record, a try-in and the fit, followed by adjustments. If teeth are removed first, an immediate denture is fitted and will need relining once the gums have healed.
-
Acrylic or metal-framework denture?
A metal framework makes the denture stronger and allows a thinner base, which many people find more comfortable. A full acrylic denture is lighter, costs less and is easier to adjust or reline. We recommend one after examining your mouth and bite.
-
Why is my lower denture loose?
Lower dentures have less to hold on to: the ridge is smaller and the tongue and cheeks move them. Implants to clip the denture onto, or a fixed All-on-4 bridge, make the biggest difference.
-
Dentures or All-on-4?
Dentures cost less and need no surgery, but they are removable and do not slow bone loss. All-on-4 gives fixed teeth on implants and usually feels closer to natural teeth, but involves surgery and two visits. Some people start with dentures and move to implants later.
-
How long do dentures last?
Usually five to ten years, with relines in between as the gums and bone change shape. Worn teeth, a loose fit or sore spots are signs it is time for a check.
